Who Is HotLap?
HotLap in Dubai is one of the most exciting bookings this August, and on Saturday 15th, the duo joins The Penthouse Presents at what DJ Mag has ranked the number one club in the Middle East. Although HotLap officially launched in late 2024, UK-based producers Chris Mears and Joris Mur are hardly new to the scene – with over 15 years of combined experience in music production and songwriting, they bring a heavyweight pedigree to their immersive blend of Afro house, Berlin minimal, melodic house and techno.
A Sound Backed by the Industry’s Best
HotLap’s distinct sound – equal parts emotional and club-ready – has quickly earned them early support from tastemakers including Adriatique, CamelPhat, Carlita, Fideles, Cristoph and Eli & Fur. It’s a testament to a duo who understand both the songwriting craft and the dancefloor in equal measure.
From the Studio to the Spotlight
Chris Mears, a 2016 Olympic gold medalist, has transitioned seamlessly from world-class athlete to world-class producer, penning hits including “Bad Memories” by Meduza, “All Nighter” by Tiësto and “This Feeling” by Vintage Culture. His counterpart, Joris Mur, has left an equally significant mark on global dance music, having written “Goodbye” by Goodboys and Imanbek, “Rapture” by Alok, and co-writing “This Feeling” alongside Chris. Together, their studio collaborations span AAA artists including Claptone, Alok, Matroda and Sidepiece, with strong creative ties to vocalists such as Rhodes, Magnus and Hannah Boleyn.
Stepping Into Their Own Spotlight
Now stepping out from behind the scenes with their own artist project, HotLap recently launched their first European tour, with festival and headline dates across Turkey, Morocco, Belgium and the UK. With anticipated collaborations on the way with Adriatique, Samm and Ajna, HotLap is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting new forces shaping the future of melodic electronic music.
